Have a Great Fall Smile by Doing These Things

Posted .

Autumn is a wonderful time of the year when the weather gets colder and you can feel the approach of the upcoming holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. While these holidays are fast approaching, it’s important to keep your dental care in check. In fact, it’s best to take good care of your smile so you can keep up your dental health. To help you care for your smile, Dr. Bo Macdonald and our dental team want to encourage you to do a few things.

One of the biggest things to keep up on is oral hygiene. You need to brush your teeth consistently twice a day, floss at least once a day, thoroughly rinse your mouth, and visit your dentist every six months for a dental exam and cleaning. These things will help you have stronger and healthier smile. When you clean your teeth, remember to use oral hygiene products that have been tested and approved by the American Dental Association. They approve products that are tested and proven effective in your dental care.

Wear a mouthguard if you participate in high-contact sports, and this is important because many oral injuries occur on the field, court, or track. There is a high chance you’ll suffer knocked-out, cracked, and broken teeth if you don’t wear a mouthguard. You could also suffer a dislocated jaw and even injure gums. Please remember to wear a mouthguard if you play high-contact sports like football, lacrosse, soccer, or basketball.
