Veneers in Los Angeles CA

A veneer is a thin, custom-made shell bonded to the front of your tooth to improve its appearance. At Bo Macdonald DDS Dentistry, we recommend veneers as a great option to enhance the color of your teeth or correct minor flaws such as chips, cracks, and misalignments.

Unlike crowns, which cover the entire tooth, a veneer only covers the front of a tooth. Only minimal tooth structure is removed before placing the veneer. Veneers are an excellent choice if your teeth are discolored from years of smoking or coffee drinking or if your teeth are slightly misaligned.

The Procedure for Veneers

Placing veneers requires a few trips to the dentist’s office, as with any cosmetic dentistry procedure. The tooth is prepared to make room for the veneer by removing a small amount of enamel. An impression is taken of the prepared tooth and sent to our dental lab so that they can custom-create the veneer to match the shape, size, and color of your neighboring teeth.

When your custom veneer is ready, you return to the office to have it placed. A special light will be used to harden the adhesive that secures the veneer. Once the bond is successfully hardened, your new smile is complete!

Once your veneers are on, they look and feel just like natural teeth. They are also stain resistant, so you can eat and drink the foods you love without worrying about them affecting the color of your new smile. Be sure to brush and floss regularly to ensure your veneers stay bright and beautiful for years to come.

The Advantages of Veneers

Veneers can fix stained, chipped, cracked, and misaligned teeth for a beautiful smile. Dental veneers are thin ceramic shells that adhere to the front of the tooth and improve its appearance. They are an effective option for improving the appearance of the front teeth. Veneers are typically made from one of two materials: composite resin or porcelain.

Composite resin is a plastic-based material that is colored to match the surrounding teeth. These veneers are more affordable but less durable or stain-resistant than porcelain. Porcelain has a longer lifespan than composite resin. It does not chip, crack, or stain easily; it can last a lifetime when correctly cared for.
